Individual and Family Therapy
Did you know that research has shown that the relationship built between a therapist and a client is the number one indicator of success in treatment? When you start working with a therapist, it’s important that you find someone who is a good fit for you, your personality, and your needs.
I applaud you for taking the first step to find a therapist. It takes courage to reach out of your comfort zone and seek support. Choosing to start therapy does not mean that there is something wrong with you that needs to be fixed. I’m a firm believer that there is no issue too small to talk about in therapy.
Therapy sessions are provided virtually through a telehealth platform. Standard sessions are typically 55-60 minutes in length. On a case-by-case basis, we may decide that a shortened or half session is best for you. See “Session Rates” for my standard fees for services.
Because the cost of therapy can be overwhelming, I offer limited reduced-rate sessions for clients seeking to pay out of pocket rather than use their insurance benefits. Contact me for more information.
Late Cancellations and Missed Appointments
You are expected to attend each scheduled session on time. A cancelled or delayed appointment impacts the quality of care you receive as well as the provider’s schedule and the services received by other clients. Out of respect for your therapist and other clients, a minimum of 24 hours’ notice is required when cancelling or changing a scheduled appointment.
The fee for missed sessions and late cancellations is $100. Insurance does not reimburse for missed appointment fees, and this amount will be charged to the card on file at the time of the missed appointment.
When a client arrives late for therapy, it impacts the quality of services that are able to be provided. Each session is billed for the full, agreed upon fee and is not pro-rated based on arrival time.
We understand that extenuating circumstances arise and there are times when 24 hour notice is not possible. Because of this, we allow for one waived cancellation fee every 6 months as needed for emergencies. Frequent cancellations, even those exceeding 24 hours’ notice, also have an impact on the quality of your care. Frequent or consecutive cancelled or missed appointments may result in termination of treatment.
Self-Pay and Out-of-Network Coverage
Clients can choose to seek services on a self-pay basis and all fees listed above represent the self-pay costs. Any clients for whom we are not in-network with their insurance providers may choose to seek out-of-network benefits and can later be reimbursed by their provider. In these instances, we will provide a “Superbill” to submit to your insurer for documentation. If you are planning on utilizing out-of-network benefits to pay for treatment, it is important that you contact your insurance provider before beginning treatment and learn their policies and procedures for securing reimbursement. It is the client’s responsibility to request and secure any eligible out-of-network reimbursement or benefits. All costs associated with therapy are due at the time of the session.
You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical care will cost. In conjunction with the No Surprises Act, as of January 1, 2022, health care providers are required to give clients who are not using insurance a Good Faith Estimate of the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services scheduled at least three days in advance. There may be additional items or services that are recommended as part of treatment that will be scheduled separately and are not reflected in the Good Faith Estimate. The information provided in the Good Faith Estimate is only an estimate and actual items, services, or charges may differ from those estimated. The Good Faith Estimate does not require you to obtain psychotherapy or other services from Sam Wilt, LLC. Any client has the right to receive an updated Good Faith Estimate upon request, and any anticipated changes to the Good Faith Estimate will be provided to the client promptly upon revision. You have the right to engage in a dispute resolution process if the actual costs of services significantly exceed those listed in the Good Faith Estimate.
